Star Wars: Darth Vader MISTAKE spotted in first movie A New Hope – look VERY closely

Taking to Reddit, user ConnorRentz posted a still from the iconic film – in which you can spot a minuscule gaffe if you look very, very closely.

They explained: “You can see the camera crew in Darth Vader’s eye in A New Hope.”

Sure enough, it takes a lot of zooming – but you can just about make out the reflection of the crew in the infamous mask.

Other Reddit users were quick to joke about the finding, which has been 97% upvoted.

“That was the documentary crew following Vader around for his reality show,” quipped one.

Said another: “Maybe there’s an Office-style documentary about the Empire we didn’t know about?”

Someone else joked: “It’s plot holes like this which really spoil the film for me and make me realise that Star Wars completely ruined Star Wars.”

A New Hope, then known just as Star Wars, was released in 1977 and launched a global phenomenon.

The franchise is, of course, still going today: the record-breaking sequel trilogy is currently preparing to draw to a close with the release of Episode 9 in 2019.

Vader was voiced by James Earl Jones, and said in an interview unearthed last year that he didn’t believe the character’s most well-known moment – telling Luke Skywalker he was his father – was genuine.

“When I first saw the dialogue that said, ‘Luke, I am your father,’ I said to myself, ‘He’s lying. I wonder how they are going to play that lie out?'”

In an interview with the New York Times in 2014, he had a great answer when asked if he ever answers the phone and pretends to be the supervillain.

“I did that once when I was traveling cross-country,” he said.

“I used Darth as my handle on the CB radio. The truck drivers would really freak out — for them, it was Darth Vader.

“I had to stop doing that.”

Star Wars: Episode 9 is out in December 2019.
