Avengers 4: Mind-blowing theory links THIS character to the Soul Stone – in a shocking way
Idris Elba’s Heimdall appeared to be killed off in Avengers: Infinity War, but – with several dead characters rumoured to be returning in next year’s Avengers 4 – he’s still very much the topic of discussion among Marvel fans.
A new theory posted to Reddit by user tenaciousNIKA has been 93% Upvoted as it suggested that Heimdall actually got his powers from the Soul Stone, “in the same vein the Maximoff twins got their powers from the mind stone.”
The theorist wrote: “It’s been established that the soul stone allows the user to connect to any soul in the universe, sometimes against their will.
“Heimdall’s powers are exactly that, he can see any soul he desires to in any corner of the universe.
“If Hydra scientists can extract a stone’s powers and imbue them into someone, then Asgardian ‘sorcerers’ (essentially scientists) would definitely be able to do the same thing and to a greater extent.
“Plus Heimdall’s eyes glow the same orange color as the soul stone.”
They added: “This fits with the idea that Odin at one point tried to hunt down the stones, then hid the ones he found on Earth and on Vormir. But maybe not before he took some of the power for his own…”
Now many will be wishing that Heimdall does return in Avengers 4 – just to see if this theory could seriously hold some weight.
As it stands, many MCU stars are in the midst of reshoots in Atlanta, USA; but it’s not known if Elba is among them.
The British star said recently that he was saddened to not have a larger role in the MCU, but that last year’s Thor: Ragnarok was a turning point in his enjoyment of the franchise.
“It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
“I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that.”
It made a marked contrast from a few years earlier, where he called shooting the blockbusters “torture”.
“I’d just done eight months in South Africa [filming Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom],” he told The Telegraph.
“I came to England and the day I came back I had to do reshoots on Thor 2. And in the actual scene my hair was different, my…[sighs]. I was like, ‘This is torture, man. I don’t want to do this.’
“My agent said: ‘You have to, it’s part of the deal.’”
Thankfully he seems to be having more fun with it now.
Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019.
