Princess Eugenie will walk down the aisle at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, at 11am today.

The bride’s outfit remains a secret, as per tradition, ahead of her arrival at the venue.

While it is unknown exactly what her gown is like, or who has designed it, the 28-year-old has confirmed the dress has a British-based designer.

Ahead of the grand unveil, a royal wedding dress designer addressed the royal’s choice.

Sassi Holford – who designed Autumn Phillips’ wedding dress, 40, back in 2008 – spoke to Kate Thornton during an episode of Yahoo News’ The Royal Box.

During the interview, the designer addressed the wealth of fashion designers in the capital of the UK.

She went on to suggest choosing a designer who isn’t based in London a “sad reflection”.

“We have a great fashion base in London, and I think it would be … a sad reflection, if they chose a designer that wasn’t based here,” she said.

The remarks could have been seen by some as a slight swipe at Meghan Markle, 38.

Earlier this year, the Duchess of Sussex unveiled her own wedding dress, which Kensington Palace confirmed had been designed by Clare Waight Keller.

The designer created the gown for French fashion house Givenchy – of which she is Artistic Director.

So, while the acclaimed British designer was born in Birmingham, the piece was produced using the codes of the House of Givenchy – which was founded and is based in France.

“Ms. Markle and Ms. Waight Keller worked closely together on the design,” part of a statement released by Kensington Palace read.

“The dress epitomises a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952.”

The dress featured a bateau neckline, and a sculpted waist.

Kensington Palace added: “True to the heritage of the house, the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams.”

Ahead of today’s Royal Wedding, it has been pondered whether Princess Eugenie will wear the York tiara.

The item was worn by her mother, Sarah Ferguson, on her wedding day to her now ex-husband Prince Andrew, both now 58, back in 1986.

The diamond-encrusted headpiece was given to Fergie ahead of their royal nuptials by Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh as a wedding gift.
