Avengers 4 leak: 'Greater threat than Thanos' REVEALED but it is NOT who you think

Back in June Chris Hemsworth warned that the Infinity War sequel would be “even more shocking.”

What could possibly be worse than a terrifying villain who wiped out half of all life across the universe?

Fans had been wondering how a badly wounded Thanos with a broken Infinity Gauntlet and no Black Order could be the main baddie throughout Avengers 4 and now new leaks have confimed there are “new threats” that are “even worse.”

The movie will bring a conclusion to the entire first three MCU phases but must also set up what comes next with a storyline which can weave through all the next round of individual franchises and the overarching linking Avengers movies.

A new article and video from the Nerdist shows the packaging for Thor and Rocket Raccoon figures.

The site added: “The blurb on the card appears to say ‘The Asgardian Thor wields the mighty Stormbreaker in his battle against new foes. Rocket teams up with a new crew to guard the galaxy from an even greater threat.”

This leaves no room for doubt. Thanos is not the worst thing the Avengers will face at the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 and moving into Phase 4.

If the film title really is Annhilation, this would indicate Annihilus is the main villain. But Sony currently holds the rights to this character and Avengers 4 filming, including the current reshoots, will be over long before and Disney and Sony merger. This also removes Galactus and Kang the Conquerer. Even if all three are folded into the MCU in the future, who is the “even worse” threat faced in Avengers 4?

A new theory suggest a villain last seen on Vormir: “Led by Red Skull (and yes, played by Hugo Weaving), the Cabal is a team of super-villains who will clash against the Avengers on multiple fronts. This will remedy the ‘Where are the Avengers?’ questions in all the solo movies, as each hero will be taking on one or more of the members of the Cabal, who are all working in unison.

“This will make a cool, cohesive whole that allows the movies to flow together well. Also it may just remedy the ‘All Marvel’s villains suck!’ problem by fleshing them out a little better.”

The Cabal featured in the Avengers Assemble animated series and spin-off comic books. It is an organization comprised of Earth’s Greatest Super-villains. They are the main antagonists of Season 1, with Red Skull as the leader and primary antagonist. They were brought back in Season 4 with a shocking and very familiar new leader.

Oh yes, welcome back Loki…

The Cabal first season team comprises Red Skull (their leader), Super-Adaptoid, Hyperion, M.O.D.O.K, Attuma and Dracula.

This is already eciting enough, but the fourth season team has Loki as their secret leader, manipulating everything from the shadows. This is possibly one the things that would excite fans more than anything.

The rest of the team includes Leader, Kang the Conqueror, Skurge the Executiver, Arnim Zola, Amora the Enchantress.

Of course, Marvel has an extraordinary range of options for Phase Four and other new theories include The Builders or the return of Dormammu.

Avengers 4 is out on April 27, 2019
