Ed Woodward insisted Jose Mourinho and his squad remain “fully united” despite a “mixed” start to the season.

Speaking on a conference call after the release of Manchester United’s latest quarterly financial results, Woodward addressed the club’s eighth-placed position in the Premier League table.

The loss to Manchester City prior to the international break again focused attention on Mourinho’s position as manager.

But executive vice chairman Woodward said: “We remain well positioned in the Champions League.

“Although we have had a mixed start in the Premier League, the squad and manager are fully united in their aim to improve the current position.”

Woodward also reacted to the appointment of Susanna Dinnage as the Premier League’s new chief executive, saying he expects much of her time to be taken up negotiating with Europe.

He added: “She comes with a strong media CV.

“I expect her to continue the work already done to look at possible other ways to monetise TV rights. We’re looking forward to working with her.”

Man Utd injury news: Who is OUT?

Mourinho will be without Luke Shaw when the Eagles arrive in Manchester as the defender serves a suspension.

However, summer signing Diogo Dalot is in contention again after confirming his return from injury on social media this week.

It means Mourinho may shift Ashley Young to left-back in Shaw’s absence and hand Dalot his Premier League debut, with Antonio Valencia still out of favour at Old Trafford.

Victor Lindelof had to be withdraw at half-time during Sweden’s clash with Turkey on Saturday due to illness and is now a doubt for the Palace game.

Further up the pitch Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford are all nursing various knocks and strains, which could leave Mourinho with a selection headache.

Is Man Utd vs Crystal Palace on TV?

The game kicks off at 3pm GMT on Saturday, November 24.

Unfortunately, there will be no live coverage of the match as regulations prevent football being televised between 2:45pm and 5:15pm in the UK on Saturdays.
