Bumblebee may be the only Transformer everyone can agree to love. He has a puppy-like personality, and his use of the radio to mix songs into coherent dialogue adds to his lightheartedness. But he is also the heart of the Transformers movies, and despite being an Autobot, adds a level of humanity to the series. And so Paramount Pictures has capitalised on our universal love of the yellow Beetle, and a Bumblebee origin story has emerged to reset the path of the Transformers movies.

When is Bumblebee out in cinemas in the UK?

Bumblebee is out on Monday, December 24, 2018 – Christmas Eve.

However, Bumblebee has a limited cinematic run in the UK this weekend, December 15 and 16.

Anyone not headed home to their families yet, trying to avoid traffic or overcrowded trains, can instead enjoy a night at the movies.

Ireland will also see Bumblebee arrive in cinemas on December 24

When is Bumblebee out in cinemas in the USA?

American fans can see Bumblebee on Friday, December 21, 2018.

The Transformers franchise does not rely on teasers in the same way Marvel or Star Wars does.

However, fans in the UK may want to avoid Twitter and Reddit if they want to see Bumblebee without any spoilers.

The Transformers prequel had its premiere on December 3 in Berlin.

The first country-wide release took place in Russia on December 13.

Russia was followed by Indonesia and Mexico (December 19) and then Australia, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lebanon, Netherlands, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Thailand, and Ukraine on December 20, 2018.

Along with the US, Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Sri Lanka, Lithuania, Turkey, and South Africa, all have a December 21 release date.

Last on the list is Japan, with a very late March 22, 2019 release date.

The Bumblebee movie was announced back in February 2016.

Principal photography started in July 2017 and took place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Vallejo, and Mare Island in California.

The initial release date had been planned for June 8, 2018, before being pushed back six months.

Reviews have been positive so far for the Bumblebee movie, with a 98 per cent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The official plot synopsis reads: “On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town.

Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee.

When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.”

Bumblebee is out in UK cinemas on December 24, 2018.
