The Texans will have home advantage when they face off against the Jaguars at the NRG Stadium on Sunday and victory in this AFC South rival game could clinch the title for Houston.

Bortles has only won two of his nine games against the Texans, both of which came in 2017.

In those nine games the 26-year-old has thrown 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions – he has also been sacked 25 times and fumbled the football eight times.

Despite Watt claiming nine of those 25 sacks, the Texans defensive end is wary about the dual threat the opposing quarterback possesses.

“You’ve got to do your job,” Watt said.

“That’s what it always comes down to with a guy like that who can throw it or run it.

“Obviously with zone reads and things like that it comes down to guys doing their jobs, knowing your keys, knowing where your eyes are supposed to be and then making plays.”

Bortles started the first 11 games of the season for Jacksonville before he was benched and replaced by Cody Kessler in Week 13.

Despite being replaced Bortles’ stats show him having a reasonable season compared to his previous years.

Bortles, who is in his fifth season in the , has a passing completion percent of 60.8 and has thrown 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season.

But the option he has to use his legs, when under pressure, is something defences have to account for.

Bortles is averaging 6.5 yards per running attempt and has one rushing touchdown to his name in 2018.

And because of this Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel echoes Watt’s concerns when it comes to facing Bortles.

“His running skill and his size and his running ability adds another dimension to his game,” Crennel said.

“So we have to be cognizant of the fact that he can run.

“They run a read option offensive scheme with him at times. He will pull it down and run when he sees an opening in the rush.”
