One Love Manchester concert: Fury over FALSE claims for free tickets

This Sunday a raft of big names from the music world will be performing a benefit gig in aid of those who were killed and injured when a suicide bomber targeted an Ariana Grande gig on Monday, May 22.

Tickets went on sale yesterday and sold out within minutes, although there was widespread condemnation when shameless touts tried selling them again on third-party sites.

Those who were at that fateful Grande show last week were entitled to free tickets, but there has also been anger for those who have made false claims.

Abbie Sisson, 25, should have been entitled to register for a free spot, but purchased her tickets for Grande via a secondary seller, it was the seller who was able to claim his place on Sunday – not her.

It seems he denied Sisson and her traumatised young sister the chance to go.

She told the Mirror: “We had to live through the trauma of what happened that night, and this guy has flippantly given the tickets to friends.

“He has no remorse and doesn’t seem to care about what we’ve been through.

“We’re talking about a 10-year-old girl who is traumatised and I’m trying to help us deal with it by going to that gig and showing Poppie that not every concert ends this way.”

She added: “How could he be so heartless to deny us tickets?”

Ticketmaster claimed that over 10,000 people had made false claims for free tickets.

“We have set aside tickets for the 14,200 people who were at the Ariana Grande concert to attend One Love Manchester for free,” said boss Andrew Parsons.

“More than 25,000 people applied. Sadly, over 10,000 unscrupulous applications have been made.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure tickets go to the fans and not the opportunists or touts.”

One Love Manchester will air from 6:55pm on Sunday on BBC One.
