The vehicle was found at 9.30am on one side of the main terminal by sniffer dogs doing a sweep of the area, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said.

About 13 units are at the scene, including bomb squad and hazmat teams, Orlando Fire Department officials said.

Orlando police, airport security and local law enforcement teams are on the scene.

Airport officials said a decision has been made to keep the airport open.

A statement from the airport, said: “At approximately 09.30am a suspicious vehicle was reported on Level 1, A Side of the Main Terminal.

“Airport canine teams are currently sweeping the area.

“Mutual aid from local law enforcement agencies is in route to assist Orlando Police and airport personnel with assessing and resolving the sitution.

“Orlando International Airport remains OPEN during the incident. Go to our website for up to the minute flight status updates.”

A week ago a man with a fake weapon had a three-hour standoff at Orlando Airport with police.

Michael Pettigrew, 26, was arrested “peacefully” by SWAT team members and released on bail last week.
