The station is closed to Central and Waterloo & City lines, and the DLR.

Commuters are being advised to use other lines.

Alex Chan, 40, told Express.co.uk there was an early rush hour crush after commuters from Waterloo Station attempted to reach Bank.

Ten platforms are currently closed at the major London station for improvement works, leading to massive cancellations and delays.

Mr Chan said: “With all the work at Waterloo and overcrowded trains the last thing we needed was problems on the Waterloo and City.

“I was on an early train I dread to think what it’s going to be like at 8am.”

Initial reports say the closure has been caused by a power outage.

Those attempting to get to work have complained about the lack of information.

One man said: “TFL thanks for telling us at start of journey #bankstation shut NOT so no chance to change journey! 20 mins late now!”
