Corbyn suggests he WOULD NOT have ordered drone strike on ISIS White Widow Sally Jones

The hard-Left Labour leader, who has previously shared platforms with Islamic terror groups Hezbollah and Hamas, suggested that the Islamic State recruiter Jones should have been brought to trial instead from her hiding place in war torn Syria.

He was reacting to reports that Jones was killed close to the border between Syria and Iraq by a US Air Force strike in June.

She and her husband Junaid Hussain went to Syria in 2013 to join IS.

He was killed by a US drone in 2015, and had allegedly been planning “barbaric attacks against the West”, including terror plots targeting “high profile public commemorations” this summer.

News of her death was not made public amid fears that her 12-year-old son Jojo may also have been killed.

Among her crimes, Jones forced her child to carry out executions, led a foreign brigade of female fighters for Isis and lured teenage girls over from the UK to marry Isis fighters.

Mr Corbyn said: “It is unconfirmed so we have to be quite careful on this, but quite clearly it is significant if it has happened.

“I think what we now have to do is look to the next phase in Syria, which is to bring everyone back around the table to get a political solution because we cannot go on with having a war for ever.”

Asked if he would have preferred that Jones had been prosecuted, he said: “I think that people who have committed crimes ought to be put on trial.

“That way of course when you interrogate someone you get more information about the background to it.

“I represent a constituency that lost many people in 7/7 and we remember what happened that day.”

Asked if he would have given the order for a drone strike if British troops were at risk from Jones, he said: “I think it is difficult to give an answer to that question which is hypothetical.

“I think we have to look at very carefully the effects on the civilian population of any bombing that takes place before such a decision is made.”

His reaction was condemned by Tory MPs.

Braintree MP James Cleverly, an officer in the Territorial Army, said: “The idea of arresting Ms Jones from the heart of a conflict zone is ridiculous and is a suggestion that shows he isn’t a credible national leader.

“Once again, Jeremy Corbyn showed that he just isn’t capable of making the difficult decisions needed to keep our country safe.”

Former Tory vice-chairman Michael Fabricant said: “Whatever the rights or wrongs of any drone strike, no-one can ever be sure that a Prime Minister Corbyn would ever put our defence and protection first.”

Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Simon Clarke said: “Sally Ann Jones was an enemy of our country and most right thinking people will be delighted she can no longer seek to warp impressionable minds with her twisted ideology.

“There was absolutely no realistic way of getting her in a court room as Jeremy Corbyn must well know.

“Once again he shows he would be both unwilling and unable to keep us safe were he ever to find himself in Downing Street.”
