Queen Letizia brushes off mother-in-law furore as she steps out in sleek outfit

Queen Letizia, 45, stepped out in Madrid today to attend a a seminar on informative treatment of disability in social networks.

The royal looked sleek in black trousers paired with a simple black top.

Adding a pop of colour, Letizia wore a red, white and black collarless jacket.

She completed the look with a pair of black patent stilettos and a plain black leather clutch which she carried in one hand.

Her hair hung straight over her shoulders, while Letizia kept her makeup simple.

A pair of stay shaped earrings could be seen in Letizia’s ears.

The Spanish Queen’s appearance comes after a media storm this week which saw a clip of Letizia in a tense moment with her mother-in-law go viral.

A video showed 79-year-old Queen Sofia standing ready to pose with her granddaughters.

But Letizia stood in the way and then appeared to push Sofia’s arm away from her eldest daughter.

Reports today claim Letizia was simply trying to protect her daughters, with her former co-worker Imma Aguilar telling El círculo: “I talked to Queen Letizia a while ago, and she is worried and quite desolated by this situation; she is very committed to the care of her daughters, with the protection of their image, she worries who takes photos of them.

“She worries where they come from, who approaches them… It’s a very motherly reaction.”

The video was taken at on Easter Sunday, as the entire Spanish royal family attended a church mass.

Letizia looked stunning for the visit, wearing a stylish monochrome outfit. The mum-of-two paired a dotty silk top with a pair of wide-leg trousers.

Large buttons ran down the side of the trousers, which finished just above Letitia’s ankles.

She completed the look with a pair of black stiletto court shoes.

A pair of large black and white pearl drop earrings hung from Letitia’s ears.

Adding a pop of colour, the royal wore a small pink handbag from her shoulder.

She matched this to her lips with a pop of berry pink lipstick.

Her recently cut hair was freshly blowdried, and she wore it straight down with a slightly off-centre parting.

King Felipe looked stylish in a dark suit, while their daughter’s wore cute dresses.
