Avengers Infinity War: FIRST REACTIONS are in after early screening – is it good news?

The Marvel blockbuster, featuring a star-studded cast of MCU favourites, is out in a couple of weeks’ time, and could be one of the big movie events of the year.

But amidst so much hype, is the product actually any good? The encouraging news is that early signs point to yes.

The initial buzz on social media is very positive after last night’s thirty-minute London preview, with Claire Lim writing: “Had the delight of watching 30 mins of @Avengers Infinity War this morning. One word: wow.”

Tom Butler wrote: “Just saw 25 mins of #AvengersInfinityWar. Can’t say much, but it was one hell of a trip seeing Marvel characters from all corners of the universe crossing paths.

“So much potential for humour, and the @Russo_Brothers milked it for every penny.”

It’s notable, however, that Hawkeye was still absent from the first footage.

The character, played by Jeremy Renner, has not been seen in any posters, trailers or TV spots for the movie – sparking a whole lot of speculation over his involvement in the movie.

With heartbreaking major deaths expected in this film, there have even been whispers that he’ll meet an early demise.

Infinity War will follow Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his plight to wreak havoc on humanity by collecting the Infinity Stones.

Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow are set to be among the many key players.

The movie will be succeeded by an as-yet-untitled Avengers sequel, which has already been filmed and will be released next year.

That follow-up is expected to feature added involvement from Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, following her own solo venture next Spring.

Infinity War is the latest in a huge year for Marvel: Black Panther has recently become one of the top-grossing movies of all time.
