Star Wars 9 shock: Mark Hamill says ‘I DON’T CARE’ about Luke Skywalker return

Warning: spoilers for Episode 8: The Last Jedi ahead.

Luke Skywalker was seen dying at the end of Star Wars: Episode 8, and now actor Hamill has dampened the possibility of returning as a Force Ghost in Episode 9.

In a new interview, he said the death of Carrie Fisher and the on-screen demise of Harrison Ford’s Han Solo have dampened his enthusiasm.

“It [Fisher’s death] really has tarnished my ability to enjoy it to its fullest,” he told ABC News.

“You were asking earlier, ‘are you gonna be back’… I don’t care anymore on that level. Because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone.

“You just can’t get the band back together the way you wanted it to be, and it shouldn’t be that way. It is what it is.”

He added: “Rather than being sorry that we can’t have more of her, I’m just grateful that we had the time with her that we did.”

Hamill has often been very honest about his feelings towards the saga, and recently spoke about how he could come back in Episode 9.

“Well I thought, if he’s a Force Ghost I’d love to see him used in a way that hasn’t been done before,” he told Radio Times.

“I mean let’s use the word ghost! That implies that it’s frightening.

“What if he… even in some other form, I think it’d be funny… well, I don’t want to give it away.

“I do have ideas; most of them are so terrible that they don’t consider them at all! But like I say, I don’t know if I am going to be back.”
