Ferguson is one of the most successful artists to ever come out of the ITV show, having scored not only giant record sales but also huge critical acclaim.

Her debut record, 2011’s Heaven, remains the fastest-selling debut album for a solo act of the decade.

Follow-up efforts Freedom, Lady Sings The Blues and Superwoman all followed it straight into the Top 10 upon release.

So, 18 months after the release of the latter, where is she now?

Ferguson took to Twitter today to reveal that another album is on the cards.

“I’m not hiding I’m just writing my next album,” she revealed.

“And I don’t love showbiz all that much so if I’m not on stage or promoting an album I’m at home with my family.

“But new music is coming.”

Ferguson delighted fans when she released the low-key Uncrazy, a collaboration with AFSHeeN, at the tail end of 2017.

She’s also appeared as a guest panelist on the ITV daytime show Loose Women, and earlier this year embarked on a very well-received tour of the UK.

Ferguson, now 31, competed on The X Factor in 2010 – the highest-rated season so far in this country.

She pipped One Direction to finish in second place, behind only Matt Cardle.
