Avengers: Infinity War 2: Is Captain Marvel the next Avengers movie?

The good news is, no, Captain Marvel is not the next Avengers: Infinity War – rather it is a film in its own right.

And there is even more to look forward to: Ant-man and the Wasp is next, due to be released in July this year.

Ant-man and the Wasp sees the two superheroes, played by Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly respectively, join forces.

Ant-man and the Wasp will be set in 2016 – so two years earlier than Avengers: Infinity War 1, and directly after Captain America Civil War in the Marvel timeline.

Next up, we’ll have Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, set for release in March 2019.

It will be set in the 1990s, and should link up with the cliff-hanger at the end of Avengers: Infinity War 1, when Nick Fury sends a message right before he dies.

As the message sends, an insignia appears on the device of one of the most powerful heroes in the entire Marvel Universe – Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, might just be the only thing that could help restore life to the universe after the devastation at Thanos’s hand in Avengers: Infinity War 1.

Two months after the release of Captain Marvel, we have the release of the fourth instalment of the Avengers films, Avengers: Infinity War 2 to look forward to.

All bets are off as to what this film will bring, and how so many fan favourites might be resurrected from the dead.

General predictions are that by the end of Avengers: Infinity War 2, the Avengers will have reversed Thanos’s actions somehow.

There is also speculation that all the dead heroes will brought back or a mega-scene will every single character on screen together battling Thanos.

While this may sound like an end for the beloved franchise, fear not: Kevin Feige, producer and Marvel studios president has said: “We’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before”
