Met Gala 2018: Best dressed stars as Blake Lively puts on SULTRY display in low cut gown

The Met Gala 2018 saw anyone who is anyone from Hollywood putting their best style foot forward.

Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the themed event puts the fashion stakes high, although not everyone got it right, with some of the Met Gala worst dressed being led by Lana del Rey and Priyanka Chopra.

The theme this year influencing everyone’s outfits was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

Celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively took the challenge in their stride, stepping out in stunning looks.

Scarlett wore a burgundy and pink taffeta dress in an ombre design, with flowers cascading down the back.

The delicate material, and the Grecian undone style of the dress, suited Scarlett’s curvy figure. 

Her new look hair – a delicate dark brown pixie crop – showed off her shoulders and her pretty facial features.

Meanwhile, Blake Lively showed off her lithe figure in a resplendent gown which had a beaded top half.

The low cut sweetheart neck showed off her collarbone and a flash of cleavage.

She looked every bit the goddess in a gold crown which came out from the back of her up-do.

Rihanna showed off her style credentials in a bead encrusted mini dress which bared her legs with a matching cape and a tall hat resembling the Pope.

Jennifer Lopez also bared her legs with a thigh high split gown which had lace up style arms.

The gown had a huge cross on the front to reflect the Catholicism theme.

Rita Ora took a more low key twist on the theme, in a black mesh gown designed by Prada.

The classic low V neck cut of the dress, paired with long sequinned black evening gloves, was apt for the red carpet event. 

She also brought a flash of colour to the look with a bright yellow micro handbag with a ladylike handle.

Gigi Hadid was another star who looked particularly gorgeous as she stepped out at the star-studded event.

Her dress was sequinned in a multicoloured design which resembles scales over her torso and along the skirt.

She showed off one of her legs in a thigh high split which revealed dark strappy heels beneath. 

The midnight blue skirt cascaded out as she walked down the Met Gala steps. Her hair was worn parted in the middle and cascading in blonde waves over her shoulders.

A surprise guest at the Met Gala was Princess Beatrice, who wore a purple taffeta dress for the occasion.

She followed in the footsteps of the late Princess Diana, who attended the same event in 1995.
