Mamma Mia 2 reveals FINAL trailer after ABBA reunion announcement (WATCH)

The latest promo for the sequel remains ambiguous over what exactly has happened to Meryl Streep’s Donna, but there is a bigger glimpse at Cher’s role – including a clip of her performing fan favourite Fernando.

Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters are among the returning stars, with Lily James playing the younger Donna.

The film is out in July and could be a big feel-good summer smash.

Whatever’s going on with Donna, Amanda Seyfried revealed recently that she will not be appearing in flashbacks – and she is very much an integral part of the film.

“You do see her. She’s, Meryl is very much a part of this movie,” she insisted.

“No, there are absolutely no flashbacks. No, because all the ‘flashbacks’ are of Lily [James] playing Donna.

“So it’s a prequel and a sequel, and so you see Meryl is very much a part of it.”

Christine Baranski also confirmed that a new scene was filmed with Seyfried’s character, as well as Cher’s.

“We just sat together [with Cher] on the set. For a few days, we were shooting a scene in a chapel,” she said on Live With Kelly and Ryan.

“It was Meryl singing with Amanda Seyfried, and there was just Cher hanging out with the coffee cups!”

The film is timely, given that ABBA themselves have now confirmed that they’ve recorded two new songs.

Though they are insistant that no more tour dates are in the pipeline, they have helped oversee the creation of some ‘digital ABBAtars’ that will be hitting the road.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is out on July 20.
