Two earthquakes STRIKE northern California in quick succession
The first earthquake was magnitude 4.1 according to the US Geological Survey, and hit around 7.58pm / 03.58am (GMT).
The earthquake epicentre was located around a mile (2 kilometres) from The Geysers.
The second earthquake was magnitude 4.0 and hit just a minute later at 7.59pm / 03.59am (GMT).
The USGS reported that the larger earthquake was felt as far away as San Franciso, which is located around 70 miles south of the epicentre.
The Geysers is a seismically active region in northern California which contains the world’s largest complex of geothermal power plants.
