The singing superstar will be at the Livewire Festival in the North of England, where she will play on Friday, August 24.

Also on the bill so far are Boyz II Men and Matt Goss on the previous day, Thursday 23.

The festival continues on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 August, with headliners and additional acts yet to be announced.

Tickets for Mariah will be on sale at 10am tomorrow, May 11.

The festival will take place at the Tower Headlands Arena in Blackpool and is currently Mariah’s only date in the UK this year.

She’s also got a string of dates booked in Las Vegas, starting July 5.

Councillor Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council said: “This is absolutely fantastic news and we are thrilled at the prospect of Mariah Carey performing live in Blackpool.

“She is a world-class artist and this promises to be another sensational Livewire event over the August Bank Holiday weekend.”

Mariah earned praise last month when she publicly revealed she has bipolar disorder, saying she hoped to break the stigma.

“Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me,” she told People.

“It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn’t do that any more.

“I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love – writing songs and making music.”

She added: “I’m hopeful we can get to a place where the stigma is lifted from people going through anything alone.

“It can be incredibly isolating. It does not have to define you and I refuse to allow it to define me or control me.”

Carey is one of the best-selling artists of all time, having shifted over 200 million records globally.

Her last studio album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, was released in 2014 and hit No3 in the US and No14 in the UK.

Her festive song All I Want For Christmas Is You returns to the singles chart annually, and is among the most iconic records of all time.
