Infinity War is jam packed with so much action, drama and, yes, death, it is hard to take it all in. There is also a remarkably impressive barrage of jokes and word play.

One of the funniest scenes takes place on board the Guardians of the Galaxy’s ship when they rescue Thor but it also contains a huge hidden clue that links to the entire plot of the Captain Marvel movie and may lead into Avengers 4.

It looks like Groot is not the only walking, talking tree in the MCU after all…

As always, anything beyond this point is massive spoiler territory for anyone who has not seen Avengers 3.

As Thor lies unconscious after being rescued from floating in space, Peter Quill asks: “How is this dude still alive?”

Drax: “He’s not a dude. You’re a dude. This is a MAN. A handsome, muscular man.”

Gamora: “It’s like his muscles are made of Cotati metal fibers…”

Peter Quill: “Stop massaging his muscles!”

The humour overshadows the sneaky inclusion of the Cotati – but is this just an Easter egg or a massive clue for the upcoming MCU movies?

The Cotati are wrapped up in the origins of the war between the Kree and the Skrulls. This is already known to underpin the plot for the Captain Marvel.

The peaceful, sentient race evolved alongside the Kree on the planet Hala but was almost completely eradicated by their vicious neighbours.

Tree-like and telepathic, they are now scattered and hidden throughout the universe.

Alhtough Gamora mentions them, they also have a hugely important link to Mantis…

In the Marvel comicbook universe Mantis is the focus of the greatest Cotati prophecy.

She will acts as the vessel for a Cotati child who will save the entire universe.

Whether any of this makes it into Captain Marvel, Avengers 3 or Guardians of the Galxy remains to be seen but the MCU just keeps expanding and getting weirder and more wonderful with every new detail…
