It’s been 17 years since The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring hit cinemas and there’s only been a few reunions over the years.

Now Hobbit stars Wood, Astin and Boyd, who played Hobbits Frodo, Samwise and Pippin in the fantasy trilogy have reunited in a new picture.

The snap was posted on Twitter by Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Joonas Suotamo, who plays Chewbacca.

The Finnish actor is 6 foot 11 inches tall and stands in the middle of the three.

The five actors showed they were still best pals and game for a laugh as they rose to the challenge in a video posted on Instagram.

The cast had been celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the release of the first Lord of the Rings films at events around the world.

And this latest reunion was filmed by a fan who spurs them on by shouting the time-honoured Elvish word: “Action!”

The spirit may be willing but it has to be said that their on-camera co-ordination is a bit weak. The fierce fivesome can’t decide which way to face and our money is on the troll.

A Lord of the Rings TV show is now in the works and the plot is rumoured to focus on a young Aragorn.

Amazon bought the rights and are expected to spend around $1 billion on five seasons and a spin-off series.

Whether or not any of the original trilogy cast will return to their roles is currently unknown.
