Panama City police, Florida Highway Patrol and Bay County deputies are at the scene.

Heavily-armed SWAT officers have also been scrambed to the city’s west side.

Beck Avenue and nearby streets have been sealed off by police.

Witnesses have reported a shootout between police and a gunman.

One witness said: “It wasn’t one gunshot, it was ‘pop, pop, pop’.

“Then it stopped for a second and all of a second ‘pop, pop, pop’ again.

“It was absolutely petrifying and I wasn’t even effected. I wasn’t hurt, I’m here in one piece, I’m fine.”

A Facebook live video filmed at the scene by a local news team captured the terrifying moments gunshots rang out.

Two schools have been put on lockdown.

This is a breaking story, more to follow…
