Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who became the youngest ever cellist to reach the UK album chart Top 20 earlier this year, is set to return to the charts this Friday.

The Official Charts Company reports a huge sales boost for the musician after he performed at the marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The 19-year-old is at Number 19 at the midweek stage with his LP Inspiration, released on Decca Records.

His rising popularity is evident on a number of individual stores, too: Inspiration is currently the fifth best-selling album on Amazon, and seventh on iTunes.

A compilation album dedicated to the Royal Wedding – the official recording of the nuptials – is at No46 in the midweek charts after just 24 hours on sale.

Its sales should rise even further after its physical release on CD on Friday, as currently it is only available digitally.

“I was just very relaxed, and just soaking up the atmosphere,” Kanneh-Mason told People after the wedding.

“To have the opportunity to perform for so many people, I was just really excited.”

He received a personal call from Markle – now the Duchess of Sussex – herself.

“I said yes immediately,” he recalled.

“It’s such an amazing event to have the opportunity to perform at. It was a surprise and such an honour.”

“I’m definitely not used to playing at the royal weddings with famous faces watching.

“That was something that was just such an honour — to get to perform for these people.”

The midweek Number One on the UK album chart is The Greatest Showman soundtrack; rebounding back up to No2 following its release on DVD and Blu-ray last week.

James Bay’s Electric Light is currently pacing for No2, while Arctic Monkeys’ Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino dips from first to third.

This week’s final tally will be revealed on Friday.
