Star Wars Solo movie: The returning Phantom Menace character you probably MISSED

WARNING SPOILERS FOR SOLO AHEAD

Warwick Davis entered the Star Wars universe in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, when he was still child.

He played Ewok Wicket after R2-D2 actor Kenny Baker fell ill, having only been cast previously as an extra.

Since then he’s appeared in a number of Star Wars movies, playing Wollivan in The Force Awakens, Weeteef Cyubee in Rogue One and Wodibin in The Last Jedi.

So it should come as no surprise that he returned for a role in Solo: A Star Wars Story too.

Davis was much easier to spot this time around, playing a humanoid character, rather than an alien, under the command of Enfys Nest.

However he’s not playing some random recruit, but Weazel – a character he portrayed in Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Fans will remember Weazel, a weapons dealer, from the Boonta Eve Podrace scene on Tatooine.

Sitting in the viewing box with Watto, he bet twenty wupiupi that Anakin Skywalker would win the race, which he did.

Davis wasn’t the first prequel trilogy actor to reprise their role in a Star Wars spin-off though.

That was Jimmy Smits, who played Bail Organa in Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

He returned for Rogue One, having naturally aged for the time that passes between the films.
