In the short time since its 2015 debut along surf-centric Monuments Beach near the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, The Cape, a Thompson Hotel has earned raves for the brand’s upscale urban aesthetic merging with a 1960s Baja-meets-SoCal vibe.

The 161-room resort is once again hyping its romantic appeal with a fresh focus on magic moments. Through May 31, 2017, The Cape’s “Vision of Love” package is highlighted by the digital editing service URLife Media that provides pairs an effortless way to share their romantic visit with friends and families.

As travelers capture more content than ever before from Smartphones and tablets, UrLife Media delivers a premium solution for curating this content into personalized, keepsake videos.

General Manager Eduardo Segura notes that The Cape is “overjoyed” with the number of couples tapping the resort for a destination wedding and/or honeymoon. “With that [support] in mind, we want to introduce a new amenity, custom designed for their post-wedding stay,” he says.

“Our partnership with UrLife offers a lovely way to preserve those special moments without the need for photographers, using content our couples capture through their own eyes, on their own devices.”

Alana Duran, group sales manager, describes URLife as a bespoke way to offer the resort’s guests an exclusive amenity when they celebrate their love at the property. “While weddings are certainly well captured in terms of photo and video content, we thought about additional aspects of this very special time in a couple’s life – the engagement, the honeymoon and so on,” Duran says.

Pair affairs are bountiful at The Cape, with the property offering such activities as mezcal tastings at the Glass Box and acoustic “sunset sessions” at the rooftop lounge to intimate cooking classes at Mantra that explore Latin culinary traditions. Duran notes that while The Cape is a primo destination for celebrating all of these moments, a couple might find it a bit invasive to have a photographer tag along during romantic vacations.

Prior to their stay, couples consult directly with a professional UrLife producer regarding tips on capturing the best content during a wedding or honeymoon.

The “Visions of Love” Honeymoon Package includes:

  • Three-night accommodations in a guest room overlooking El Arco and the Sea of Cortez – including a private balcony, freestanding copper tub, craft cocktail bar and other indulgences
  • Luxury round-trip airport service
  • Dinner for two at internationally acclaimed Chef Enrique Olvera’s Manta restaurant
  • Couples massage at Currents Spa, with options including an indoor couple’s room or side-by-side, al fresco seaside cabanas
  • Consultation and custom two-minute URLife digital video highlighting guests’ experiences

Valid on minimum three-night stays through May 31, 2017, the three-night “Visions of Love” is priced from $3,492 per couple. Taxes and resort fees are additional.

Destination Weddings

As for onsite wedding ceremonies, Duran notes that the resort’s prime perch makes it a dream with its views of the iconic El Arco and Sea of Cortez from virtually anywhere on the property. “We’re ideally positioned for both intimate and larger-party weddings considering the variety of scenic locales available throughout the property,” Duran says.

“These range from the intimacy of a luxury penthouse patio for smaller ceremonies to our larger rooftop destination Glimpse with unparalleled views of the city, the sea and beyond. It’s difficult to narrow it down to one particular area that is the most popular, as we’ve had weddings of varying sizes, themes and unique needs,” she says.

“Because we have the great fortune of offering views from really any space on the property, guests do not have to choose between view or no view – everywhere looks incredible!” Duran adds that the Glass Box – an architectural gem that is cantilevered above the ocean and features 360-degrees of glass wall – is always a hit for intimate wedding-related cocktail events and receptions.

Romance aside, The Cape guests are privy to two pools that include an infinity pool with swim-up bar and another built within a natural rock formation. The resort is also home to a diverse array of chef-driven food and beverage destinations.

All resort guest rooms indulge with unobstructed ocean views, as well as outdoor terraces – many that are decked out with romantic hanging daybeds for sharing the picturesque surroundings.

Especially geared to destination wedding groups that are a natural fit for the property’s one-, two-, and three-bedroom accommodations, the premier Surfer Villa is a two-story haven ideal for an intimate ceremony, private reception, and luxe vacation for friends and families traveling together.
