There is a while to wait for those eager to see what happens next in the MCU, with the next installment, yet untitled Avengers 4 not in cinemas until April 2019.

Heroes from Black Panther, Avengers, Dr. Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spiderman joined forces to fight the mad Titan that is Thanos, aiming to stop him from wiping out half of existence.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Thanos set out on a quest to find all six infinity stones, which if united would grant him the power to click his fingers and kill half of the universe, in his eyes restoring balance to overpopulated worlds.

Despite our heroes best efforts, Thanos managed to find all six stones and subsequently wiped out many favourite Marvel heroes.

Those who bit the dust in Infinity War were Gamora, Star Lord, Groot, Mantis, Drax, Dr. Strange, Spiderman, Black Panther, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Nick Fury and Agent Maria Hill.

The ending of Infinity War seemed hopeless for the remaining characters, until that is you factor in Dr. Strange’s glimpse into the future, and Nick Fury’s last moments.

Will Doctor Strange appear in Avengers 4?

Doctor Strange battled Thanos on Titan, with Iron Man, the Guardians, and Spiderman in Infinity War.

Before this, he had used the time stone to look into the future at all possibilities to see if any outcome meant they would win.

Dr. Strange promised Tony Stark that if the Time Stone was involved in a choice between his life or death, he wouldn’t save the billionaire Iron Man.

However when Thanos threatens Iron Man’s life, Dr. Strange offers up the Time Stone, suggesting Iron Man may have a huge part to play in Avengers 4 that Strange saw in his visions of the future.

Time travel looks set to be a big part of Avengers 4, which means any number of Marvel Universe characters could show up.

Will Captain Marvel appear in Avengers 4?

The key to Captain Marvel’s involvement in Avengers 4, lies in the post-credit scene.

In Nick Fury’s final moments before disintegrating into dust, he managed to activate an odd looking pager, which bore a symbol that may have sparked recognition amongst hardcore Marvel fans.

The symbol belongs to Captain Marvel, a superhero set to have her own standalone film released in February 2019.

Captain Marvel is a pilot who in a freak accident acquires superpowers, from an alien race known as the Kree.

Her powers include flight, super-strength, energy manipulation and a “precognitive seventh sense”.

Her summoning by Fury almost certainly cements her involvement in Avengers 4, with her plethora of powers paving the way for an epic battle.

Fans will have to wait to be sure, however, with Captain Marvel set for release in February 2019, and Avengers 4 at cinemas in April 2019.
