Avengers ending: WHERE was Captain Marvel hiding? Why didn't she help before Avengers 4?

Fans know Captain Marvel is coming – her signal appeared on the pager during that end credit scene.

Fans know the Captain Marvel movie is set in the 1990s – the recent official synopsis made it clear.

So, where has she been since then? Why didn’t Nick Fury call here earlier?

Why didn’t one of the most powerful beings in the universe come and help when half of all life was about to be snuffed out?

A popular recent theory suggest that Doctor Strange went back in time to warn Captain Marvel and Nick Fury about Thanos and The Snap, althojugh it is difficult to see when he could have done this, unless it was just after he had a vision of the one and only way to defeat the Mad Titan.

Reddit user bp-man has a much more logical idea.

The theory explains: “The Captain Marvel movie is going to be set in the 90s. Are you saying Dr. Strange travelled back in time to warn Fury? And that would have to take place after the events of Avengers 4. I don’t think Marvel will put time travel in the movies it makes everything more complicated.”

“I think it’s more likely that over the events of the Captain Marvel movie she and Nick find out about Thanos and she leaves Earth to find a way to stop him. So when people started disappearing Nick knew what was going on and call for Captain Marvel.”

This explains why Fury didn’t look shocked as people began to turn to dust. He knew something like this could happen and he knew what to do.

AVENGERS 4: LOKI IS ALIVE AND THESE PICTURES PROVE HOW AND WHERE

We know that the Captain Marvel movie will deal with events from the Kree and Skrulls war.

It is unlikely this will only take place on Earth, since the events have never been referenced in any subsequent (chronologically speaking) Marvel movies.

The logical explanation is that Carol Danvers will interact with Nick Fury whiel she is still human or during her transformation into Captain Marvel. The Kree and Skrull situation will also somehow be linked to Thanos, even if indirectly. Marvel will head out into the universe at the end of the movie, leaving a way for Fury to call her if and when Thanos makes his final move.
