Avengers Infinity War: Where Does Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Fit With Avengers?

The mad titan Thanos spent the Avengers: Infinity War movie procuring the six infinity stones in a bid to wipe out half of Earth’s population and taking half of the Avengers with them.

One of the Avengers to be turned to dust was the Star Lord himself, Peter Quill.

Marvel movies jump around time and location wise, so the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 comes out after Infinity War doesn’t mean it takes place after the snap.

Pratt, in an interview with MTV, said: “We don’t know yet, time-wise, where that lines up with Avengers 4.”

Given that he met a sticky fate in Infinity War, he couldn’t confirm whether or not the Star Lord would be returning for Avengers 4.

“I’m hoping it’s not the last you’ll see me, but I can’t be sure,” he said.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has been in talks for a while.

During a 2017 interview with Complex, Guardians of the Galaxy auteur James Gunn didn’t give Avengers fans much to go on.

“I don’t think we should overstate things that it is an Avengers movie,” he said, “but the Guardians are a part of the cosmic universe, they’re a part of Thanos’ stories, so, they are in there, and they have, not the biggest, but, an integral part to that.”

Chris Pratt is expected to reprise his role as Star Lord in the latest Guardians of the Galaxy reprisal, alongside Dave Bautista as Dax the Destroyer.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 newcomer Pom Klementieff is also expected to return, though she was also a victim of Thanos’ rage.

Filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is expected to begin in 2019.

As far as the Fox merger giving Gunn access to an entirely new cast of Marvel character, Gunn said: “Not gonna happen in any major way.”

Gunn went on to say Vol 3 “will conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.”

He also confirmed he’ll be working with MCU head Kevin Feige to help design where these stories go.

“We will make sure the future of the Marvel Cosmic Universe is as special and authentic and magical as what we have created so far,” he said.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to be released in 2020.
