Aquaman: Who is the villain in the Aquaman movie?

Aquaman, aka Arthur Curry, is set to return to Atlantis but not all will go swimmingly for the hero.

Aquaman is going to be met by two enemies. The first is his half-brother Orm, better known as Ocean Master.

The second and hotly anticipated villains David Kane (David Hyde in the comics) a.k.a. Black Manta is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Greatest Showman).

Ever since Black Manta was announced as the main villain fans have been waiting to see how his look would be translated for the big screen.

Now fans get their first look at the Aquaman villain via Abdul-Mateen’s twitter.

Die-hard DC Comics fans will be relieved to hear he’s kept his trademark, wide-eyed helmet.

The photo also seems to be set in a workshop, which should be located in a submarine or on a ship. It is Aquaman, after all.

Every once in a while a comic book character will appear on screen looking exactly as they did in the comics, and the Black Manta helmet definitely fits that bill.

Keep in mind, the photo features the prototype of the helmet, so fans are excited at how the finalized costume might look.

There are only six months until Aquaman’s release but the director James Wan hasn’t given many details about the villain away.

Wan told EW Black Manta is a “part mercenary but a full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space.”

Black Manta might be an important antagonist to Aquaman, Patrick Wilson’s Orm (Aquaman’s half-brother) will be Aquaman’s main adversary.

But that doesn’t mean you should count Black Manta out.

He’s a ferocious pirate and his suit allows him to shoot plasma beams out of his eyes.

The plot for Aquaman follows Arthur Curry’s revelation that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis.

“Aquaman must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world,” IMDB says.

Aquaman swims to UK cinemas on December 14, 2018.
