Rocky: Are there images of Michael B Jordan in Creed II?
Creed II has been hotly anticipated ever since the end credits for Creed rolled.
Are there images of Black Panther star Michael B Jordan in Creed II?
Yes, and it is enough to make even haters of sports movies get on board with the Creed sequel.
Sylvester Stallone, the eponymous hero of the original Rocky movies and MGM’s CEO Gary Barber confirmed to Variety that a sequel to the 2015 film Creed was in development back in January 5, 2016.
Filming took place in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighbourhood, Pennsylvania and only recently finished shooting on June 7, 2018.
Coinciding with the wrap of the movie, MGM released the first image from Creed II.
The official plot synopsis for Creed II has been revealed: “Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed.”
It continues: “Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life – facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring.
“Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family.
“Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.”
Michael B. Jordan has reprised his role as the eponymous Adonis Creed.
The first Creed movie revealed Adonis to be a talented light heavyweight boxer if an underdog.
He is the son of world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed but goes by the name Donnie Johnson.
Of course, Sylvester Stallone is returning as Rocky Balboa
The Creed series saw Stallone as the owner of an Italian restaurant in Philadelphia named after his deceased wife, Adrian.
Tessa Thompson returns to Creed as Bianca a singer-songwriter who has progressive hearing loss and is Adonis’s girlfriend.
Speculation surfaced Milo Ventimiglia might return to take up his role as Rocky’s son Robert, even confirmed by Stallone himself.
Ventimiglia voiced his own positive feelings about returning to Rocky in Creed II, saying: “If they invited me I’d love to be there, If they didn’t I wouldn’t be offended.”
Phylicia Rashad, Wood Harris, and Andre Ward will also reprise their roles from the first Creed movie.
Creed II is in cinemas Friday, 30 November 2018.
