The Mission: Impossible franchise is still going strong over 20 years since Cruise’s original outing.

The 55-year-old star now returns for the sixth film this summer, , alongside series regular Simon Pegg.

Having played techie Benji Dunn since 2006’s Mission: Impossible III, the British comic actor returns once again alongside Cruise.

But how long will the pair continue with the franchise, which in recent years has been going from strength to strength with the critics and the box office alike?

Mission: Impossible 7 must be on their minds and Pegg is certainly not denying the possibility of yet another sequel.

Speaking with , he said: “[The franchise] shows no signs of slowing down.

“I imagine that at some we’ll be doing mad things again, so, yeah… never say never.”

It’s been just three years since Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation hit cinemas, which was the shortest time in between films in the franchise to date.

So with this in mind, and the renewed strength of the franchise as a whole, perhaps Mission: Impossible 7 is only two or three years away.

The official synopsis for Mission: Impossible Fallout reads: “When an IMF mission ends badly, the world is faced with dire consequences.

“As Ethan Hunt takes it upon himself to fulfil his original briefing, the CIA begins to question his loyalty and his motives.

“Hunt finds himself in a race against time, hunted by assassins and former allies while trying to prevent a global catastrophe.”

Mission: Impossible – Fallout sees Cruise and Pegg take on Henry Cavill.

Meanwhile Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin are all back too.

As is Sean Harris’ Solomon Lane, the villain in the last outing, returning as a bearded prisoner.

Mission Impossible – Fallout is released in UK cinemas on July 26, 2018.
