Mamma Mia 2 release date: When is Here We Go Again out in the UK?

Cher and Christine Baranski are on The Graham Norton Show tonight, promoting the sequel to the 2008 original – one of the most successful musical movies of all time, using the songs of ABBA.

So when can fans finally see it?

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is released in the UK and USA on Friday, July 20.

That’s ten years and two days after its predecessor’s US release, and ten years and ten days after the first movie came out in Britain.

Most other territories will get the movie at the same time.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, the Netherlands and Portugal can see it one day earlier – on July 19, according to IMDb.

Others getting the film on July 20 include Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, Finland, Sri Lanka, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, Vietnam and South Africa.

Singapore, Russia, Japan and Italy have to wait a little longer: they will get it on August 9, 16, 24 and September 6 respectively.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Cher spoke about how she came to be involved.

“Yes [I had to be talked into it],” she said.

“But, my agent called me and said, ‘You’re in the new Mamma Mia film’ and then hung up. I didn’t have much choice!”

She plays the mother of Donna, the character played by Meryl Streep.

“I am older than her – by four years!” she said.

“When they asked I said, ‘That’s absolutely fine, that’s cool.’”
