Incredibles 2 after credit: Does Incredibles 2 have an end credit scene?
Even though it arrived 14 years after the first Incredibles movie, the sequel starts at the precise moment the 2004 original ended.
The villain from the first movie, the Underminer, is attacking the city and the Parrs are all suited up and ready to take him down.
But it doesn’t go to plan and the Underminer escapes their grasp and is not seen again for the rest of the film.
Warning: Spoilers for Incredibles 2 ahead.
Despite Incredibles 2 being a superhero movie, it doesn’t make use of the archetypal superhero trope well worn by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There is no after credit scene in Incredibles 2, though before the screen goes black there is a teaser for a potential third Incredibles movie.
As the credits roll there is a 2D animated synopsis of the movie’s plot which ends with the Underminer’s drill driving across the screen.
The final image of Incredibles 2 reminds viewers the Underminer is still at large, which implies the Incredibles could be back.
The Underminer’s role in Incredibles 2 was short lived and made way for the new villain of the Incredibles sequel.
Director Brad Bird had to shift the story slightly, abandoning plots and characters, in order to fit the updated release date.
There are two ways the teaser at the end of Incredibles 2 can be taken.
The optimist’s view is the teaser hints there could be an Incredibles 3.
Nothing has been confirmed, though Bird said he has plenty of ideas and actors such as Samuel L Jackson and new-comer Sophia Bush have expressed support for the idea.
The Underminer’s return would make sense for a sequel and provide an emotionally satisfying ending to the trilogy.
However, Pixar is reportedly taking a break from making sequels despite their success.
There is a good chance the teaser was just there to tease and an Incredibles 3 might never happen.
Either way, the final moment of Incredibles 2 is as playful and fun as the movie itself.
Incredibles 2 is in UK cinemas Friday, July 13, 2018.
