It’s important to remember that this is not the first time fans have protested Star Wars.
Back when George Lucas relased his prequel trilogy there was uproar, much of it directed at a certain Jar Jar Binks.
But now the social media age has given fans a huge platform to broadcast their views.
Whether or not you agree, or think they have any right to try and influence the future of the frabchise, it can’t be denied that the recent boycott may have damaged Solo A Star Wars at the box office.
The Solo movie has only taken $343million at the global box office and is predicted to make a loss, the first in Star Wars history.
Since the release of The Last Jedi in December 2017, much fan fury has been directed at the director, Rian Johnson. Even greater venom has been hurled at Kathleen Kennedy, the Lucasfilm boss.
Will they listen, or make any alterations to future plans?
Only money talks in Hollywood and the next few months will be very interesting for Star Wars fans on both sides of the debate…
