Avengers 4: Does THIS prove Iron Man will SACRIFICE Captain America to get the Soul Stone?

Marvel‘s Avengers Infinity War has left the survivors of Thanos’ Snap in a bit of a pickle.

How can they bring back half the universe, including half the Avengers, after they died and turned to ash?

Well one of the most popular theories is that Avengers 4 will see Iron Man and co travel back in time – or across alternate realities thanks to Ant-Man – to retrieve the Infinity Stones before Thanos ever did.

However this would also mean getting the Soul Stone from Red Skull on Vormir – something that involved Thanos willingly sacrificing his daughter Gamora (one he truly loves) to obtain.

Now Tumblr theorist starkravinghazelnuts argues Iron Man will have to sacrifice Captain America to obtain it.

They wrote: “I think if Avengers 4 involves them acquiring the Infinity Stones, that means they’ll have to get the Soul Stone too, and Red Skull made it clear the only way to get it is to trade a soul for a soul. 

“Since they’ve been foreshadowing Tony will be the one who will get the Soul Stone (the marketing campaign putting Tony on the Soul Stone prior to Avengers Infinity War; Thanos saying Tony was “cursed with knowledge” which is a line associated with the Soul Stone), that means Tony is going to be the one who sacrifices someone (and lives with the pain).  

“I think Tony will sacrifice Steve.”

They added: “Not only is it ominous Red Skull (Steve’s nemesis from Captain America: The First Avenger) is guarding the Soul Stone, but a chunk of Steve’s screen time in Avengers: Infinity War involved Steve being there to watch Wanda and Vision argue about the idea of sacrifice.

“It’s Steve who pushes for them to try and save Vision (“We don’t trade lives”), which makes me believe Steve will be the one to lay his life down to save the universe – especially in order to give two people he cares about [Tony Stark and Pepper Potts] a chance at having a life once the war is over (which is something Steve never got).”

The same theorist also reckons Cap’s death scene has been foreshadowed by the first two Avengers movies and Captain America: Civil War.

They point out there is “recurring imagery of either Tony or Steve hovering over the other one prone on the ground” and the next in the pattern is Cap being at death’s door.

Avengers 4 is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
