Avengers Infinity War: REAL reason Asgardians gave the Reality Stone to The Collector?

Back in 2013, Marvel fans were introduced to the Reality Stone in Thor: The Dark World.

But since Odin already had one Infinity Stone, the Tesseract in his vault on Asgard, he decided to have the Warriors Three take the gem to the Collector.

In the film’s end credits scene, the Collector willingly accepts it and makes it clear he wants to collect all six like Thanos – as we see developed in Guardians of the Galaxy.

But what if there was more of a reason for the Asgardians to hand over an Infinity Stone to the Collector?

A popular new Reddit theory argues this is hinted at in Avengers Infinity War during a conversation between Star-Lord and Thor.

The Guardian says: “If it’s with the Collector, then it’s not safe. Only an idiot would give that man a stone.”

Thor replied, “Or a genius.”

The theorist wrote: “Why did the Asgardians give such a powerful item to a being who is clearly untrustworthy and a bit unstable?”

THE COLLECTOR RETURNING FOR AVENGERS 4?

They continued: “Even if they don’t want to keep it with the Tesseract in the vault at Asgard, surely there’s a safer place somewhere in the Nine Realms they could hide it.

“Thor knew what he was doing: The Collector is obsessed with collecting.

“Once he had one Infinity Stone, he would be obsessively driven to complete his collection.

“They could watch him from afar and let him do the dirty work of scouring the galaxy, seeking out the stones that were still hidden.”

They added: “This proved to work in Guardians of the Galaxy, when The Collector contacted Gamora and offered to pay her to bring him the Orb.

“Without [his] interference, the stone likely would have gone directly to Ronan, the Guardians wouldn’t have a reason to join together, Xandar would be destroyed, and Thanos would have got the Power Stone much earlier.

“Looks like Thor really is a genius.”
