A number of major superheroes died in Thanos’ snap at the end of Avengers Infinity War.

But what with films like Spider-Man: Far From Home, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and Black Panther 2 already confirmed, we know they’re coming back somehow.

And now boss Kevin Feige has confirmed Doctor Strange 2 will indeed happen.

In fact the producer mentioned the sequel while talking about long gaps between solo outings for MCU characters and the chance for certain superheroes to make cameos in other films, like Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok.

Speaking with , Feige said: “Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up?

“[Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of [Avengers:] Infinity War.

“So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”

But how exactly will Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme return when he’s dead?

Well eagle-eyed Marvel fans will have noticed a couple of things said by Doctor Strange in Avengers Infinity War that suggest he knows exactly what he’s doing.

First off the wizard used the Time Stone to look into the future at over 14 million possible outcomes of the Infinity War.

He then revealed to Iron Man, Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy that there is only one reality in which the Avengers defeat Thanos.

Then later in the film when the Mad Titan is ready to kill Tony Stark, Doctor Strange willingly trades the Time Stone for Iron Man’s life.

Half the universe for one life? “Now why would you go and do a thing like that”, asked Tony.

Doctor Strange, looking measured simply says: “We’re in the endgame now.”

And after the Snap, just before he turns to ash, he says to Tony: “It was the only way.”

This clearly shows that Doctor Strange knows Thanos will now be defeated in Avengers 4, hence he’ll be resurrected somehow for Doctor Strange 2 and beyond.

Avengers 4 is set for release in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
