Ant-Man and the Wasp cast: Who stars in Ant-Man and the Wasp?

Paul Rudd has reprised his role as Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, a former systems engineer at VistaCorp turned petty criminal.

Lang acquired a specialised suit that gave him the power to shrink or grow while also increasing in strength.

From the beginning, Marvel head and Ant-Man producer Kevin Feige was set on Paul Rudd as the eponymous hero.

Feige said: “Look at that origin of the petty crook who comes into contact with a suit and does his best to make good.

“Then look at someone like Paul Rudd, who can do slightly unsavoury things like break into people’s houses and still be charming and who you root for and whose redemption you will find satisfaction in.”

Hope van Dyne (aka The Wasp) also has a leading role in the sequel, with Evangeline Lily returning to the film.

The Wasp marks the first ever Marvel movie to feature the name of the female superhero in its title.

Hope is the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne.

Hope is given a similar suit to Ant-Man’s, along with the Wasp mantle from her mother – Janet van Dyne.

Janet van Dyne is being portrayed by Michelle Pfieffer, who was lost in the Quantum Realm years ago during a mission with Pym.

Hank Pym is being played once again by Michael Douglas who, at the end of the 2015 Ant-Man, was left wondering if his wife might still be alive.

Michael Peña returns to the sequel as Luis, Lang’s former cellmate.

The actress Judy Greer reprised her role of Maggie, Lang’s ex-wife.

Hannah John-Kamen is the prominent new cast member, playing Ava Starr aka Ghost, the antagonist of the movie.

The character was portrayed as male in the comics, but director Peyton Reed told Entertainment Weekly: “The Ghost character could be male, female, anything, so it just seemed more interesting to us to cast a woman.”

He added: “Ghost’s primary power is the ability to ‘phase,’ which allows Ghost to move through solid matter.”

She has all sorts of strange versions of that phasing power — it proves quite difficult for Ant-Man and Wasp to deal with.”

Another new character is Pym’s former Bill Foster, played by Laurence Fishburne.
