Captain Marvel movie: BIG NEWS for Carol Danvers debut after Avengers end credits scene
Director Ryan Fleck revealed yesterday that the Brie Larson-fronted Marvel blockbuster has officially completed filming, pending reshoots.
His Instagram update confirmed that Friday, July 6th, was the 75th of 75 days of cameras rolling.
“We got next…” he captioned it.
The film comes after hype built with the end credits scene of April’s Avengers: Infinity War.
That movie saw Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury sending an emergency message via a mysterious device, shortly after Thanos activated the Snap and wiped out half of humanity.
Before Fury too turned to dust, he seemed to be able to make contact with Danvers – and it is assumed she will now play a big part in the events of the as-yet-untitled sequel Avengers 4.
Before that, though, Captain Marvel’s self-titled solo movie will actually be set in the 1990s – long before Infinity War.
Larson will be joined by the likes of Jackson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan and many more.
A recent casting leak online claimed to confirm that Annette Benning – confirmed earlier this year to be in a mystery role – will be playing Danvers’ mother.
And Brie Larson herself said of the project: “It’s sort of interesting because it doesn’t feel like it’s happening to me. The surreal aspects of it feel like it’s happening to someone else.
“I’m just making the movie right now, and that part is kind of the same! The only difference is there are more people there.”
Pushed on whether the filming process for Captain Marvel is a little more intense than what she’s used to, Larson replied: “That stuff is my favourite part, that stuff is where you find the character.
“It’s ‘how far can I take myself to reprogram my brain and reprogram by body to learn something new about myself?’ So this has been an amazing challenge.
“She [Danvers] is so strong, she can move planets – so to me it was like, ‘how far can I go with this strength?’”
Captain Marvel is out on March 8, 2019.
