Meghan Markle nods to American roots with dress by US designer to Prince Louis christening

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, attended the christening of Prince Louis with her husband Prince Harry, 33.

Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer tweeted: “Duchess of Sussex in Ralph Lauren and hat by Stephen Jones.

“Duchess of Cornwall in Fiona Clare and hat by Locke.”

Meghan wore a green dress with matching shoes and a matching slice style hat.

She appeared to be wearing the now sold-out Manolo Blahnik BB Suede Pointed-Toe Pump in Olive.

Similar shoes in different colours cost around $584.95 (£442.24) from the designer’s website.

Meghan was not named as one of the godparents of Prince George today. Instead Kensington Palace revealed the honour would go to family friends.

They said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked the following people to be godparents to Prince Louis, all of whom are friends or family of Their Royal Highnesses:

Mr. Nicholas van Cutsem

Mr. Guy Pelly

Mr. Harry Aubrey-Fletcher

The Lady Laura Meade

Miss Lucy Middleton

Carole Middleton and Pippa Middleton arrived at the venue looking almost identical.

Pregnant Pippa was spotted earlier leaving her house for Prince Louis’ christening. 

Her two-month-old nephew is being christened this afternoon at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

Pippa is due in October, with her baby bump only just starting to show.

The pale blue dress featured structured, panelled middle, cinching Pippa in at the waist and making her bump appear even smaller.

The dress, by Italian designer Alessandra Rich, was custom-made for Pippa for the occasion.

Yet again Meghan nodded back to her wedding dress with this green design.

The business-like dress with a narrow belt had a bateau neck line.

Meghan Markle’s wedding dress has recently been reported to have cost more than Kate Middleton’s. 

What is more, Meghan had a second dress also worth a huge sum.

Entertainment Tonight reports that Meghan’s chapel dress cost £387,000 while the dress for her reception is estimated to be worth £119,555.
