WARNING SPOILERS FOR ANT-MAN AND THE WASP AHEAD

fans who have seen the Ant-Man sequel will know much of the solo outing has nothing to do with Avengers Infinity War and its sequel.

However when the end credits scene came along we saw that the Pym family turned to dust by Thanos’ snap, while Ant-Man was left trapped in the Quantum Realm.

Now Ant-Man and the Wasp director Reed has revealed how Avengers 4 plans influenced this scene.

Speaking with , he said how much Avengers Infinity War would be referenced in Ant-Man and the Wasp kept on changing throughout production.

In the end it was left to the end credits scene, which saw the first draft written by Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Reed said: “There were a couple of key things that we knew were probably going to happen in those movies which led to us being able to tee it up correctly in ours.”

When it came to reworking the scene, the director added: “I was concerned that anything that happens has to be true, you can’t do something to Scott Lang that feels out of character, so it was something that we had free rein to decide.

“Leaving Scott hanging literally and figuratively, that was something we knew we were going to do, but what else happens?”

It turns out Reed was given authority by Marvel to decide who other than Ant-Man would survive Thanos’ snap.

He continued: “There’s a certain percentage issue that’s set up with Thanos’ plan in Infinity War and we had to deal with that.”

Reed added: “There was a point where we wondered how many of our characters are we going to have in that end-credit scene.

“Is Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne) going to be there? Is Luis (Michael Peña) going to be there? That was part of our decision. We couldn’t fudge this percentage issue too much.

“So there were all these issues that went into that decision. But we discussed it ad nauseam during the process.”

Fans will have to wait and see if Dr Forster and Luis survived in Avengers 4, which is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
