Fifty Shades audience SHOCK: Guess which rude large VEGETABLE was found after a screening?

It seems some enterprising audience members are bringing extra fun into screenings with them.

A shocked staff member at a cinema in Sydney, Australia, found a suggestive item on the floor when they were cleaning up in the darkened auditorium and picked it up before they realised what it was.

They tweeted a picture of the large green vegetable and, predictably, the internet has gone wild. As well as the expected sexual jokes, a surprising number of people were also rather concerned about hygiene issues…

The employee of the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace in Cremorne, North Sydney, tweeted the picture with the caption: “That awkward moment when you find a cucumber in the cinema after a Fifty Shades session.”

Many responses echoed comments like “You’re touching it without gloves?” and “You need to sterilise those hands, immediately.”

The staff member replied: “Didn’t realise what it was…lights were still down. Boiling my hand right now.”

Within hours there were hundreds of comments on the post.

Some people amusingly decided to try and suggest that the cucumber may have been brought in for non-sexual purposes.

One wrote: “It’s probably innocent, some old lady making cucumber sandwiches to save money…”

Another added: “Glad to see that people are still remembering to stay healthy and eat ample portions of vegetables even if they are out having fun! I see a glimpse of hope for humanity.”

The Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace has found itself the focus of worldwide attention as the news spreads on Twitter.

The independent Art Deco six-screen cinema complex specialises in an eclectic mix of mainstream, cult and special event cinema. It also hosts student nights, during one of which the offending item was left behind. Perhaps it was just a poor student trying to make each Aussie dollar last a little longer on a hungry stomach?

Not a problem shared by Mr Christian Grey in the film or the filmmakers, after a surprisingly successful opening weekend around the world.

The film had been at risk of a poor opening after early reviews slammed the hugely-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey sequel. It currently has a shockingly low 9% aggregate on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, a reassuringly solid performance across the globe brought in a steady $160million.

Looks like Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan and the gang won’t need to nibble (or otherwise) on any cucumbers just yet. Unless they want to, of course…
