Avengers 4: Is THIS why only Nebula and Rocket survived Infinity War? EXPLAINED

The end of Infinity War left fans devastated. It also left a huge number of questions, mainy concerning how the surviving heroes cuold possibly bring back all those who died in the Snap. 

But what about those who did survive? Why did they precisely make it out alive when so many others did not. 

Fans already worked out the the core original Avengers were left alive but the only two other major characters shown still standing were Nebula and Rocket.

Why? 

It seems it all has to do with that rumoured time travel plot to go back and get the Infinity Stones before Thanos does…

A powerful new theory on Reddit explains: “Rocket Raccoon is probably the only Avenger who is alive and knew where the Power Stone was. (The Avengers can get the stone from Xandar right after GotG ends and the GotG story continues like we know).

“Nebula is probably the only Avenger who is alive and knew where the Soul Stone was.”

The full theory also explains how the other surviving original Avengers will also play specific roles in getting the other four Infinity Stones.

Thor knows where the Reality Stone was. The Avengers can go back and take it from the Collector or Thor could even make sure it is kept somewhere else after the events in Thor 2.

Iron Man, Thor and probably Hulk know where the Time Stone was. After the events in the Doctor Strange movie they can go back to Stephen Strange and explain what is going on. 

The Space Stone is very publicly revealed in the first Avengers movie and scenes have already been shown from Avengers 4 suggesting the heroes will somehow go back to that final battle in New York, presumably to retrieve the Stone.

It is the Mind Stone that poses the biggest problem.

Going back in time to the first Avengers movie and taking it means Vision will never come into existence. It also creates huge timeline issues for Avengers 2. The most likely solution is to try and extract the Stone just before the events of Infinity War, perhaps even using Shuri, since we now know she also survived.

And so this explains how all the six Stones could be gathered.

However there is still one last clever point about Rocket and Nebula.

Don’t forget Nebula and Rocket are both highly skilled space pilots.

Tony Stark is still stranded on Titan and even his tech skills might be pushed to find a ship, figure out how to fly it and find the path back to Earth.

The remaining Avengers on Earth will need Rocket if they go seeking any Stones off the planet. 

Of course, none of this take sinto account the imminent arrival of Captain Marvel or what Scott Lang has been doing in the Quantum Realm…
