Venom: Will Carnage appear in the Venom movie?

Venom is the Marvel anti-hero most comic fans know plenty about, but casual movie fans may only recognise from the brief appearance in Spider-Man 3, played by Topher Grace.

This latest iteration of Venom, giving him a full-fledged solo movie, stars Tom Hardy and takes a far darker tone than the previous Spider-Man movie.

Will Carnage appear in Venom movie?

The main villain in Venom is not Carnage, but Carlton Drake/Riot.

But fans are speculating Carnage may have a cameo appearance in a post-credit scene, much like how Thanos introduced.

There’s speculation Woody Harrelson will take the role of Carnage.

This speculation is down to his addition to the cast list for an unnamed character which will only have a cameo.

Harrelson told Collider: “I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one, you know?”

The Star Wars actor worked previously with Ruben Fleischer, the director of Venom, on the movie Zombieland.

As Harrelson was unable to read a script for the Venom sequel, in which he’d presumably have a bigger part, he described signing on as a role of the dice.

Though Venom is part of the larger Marvel comic universe, Marvel Studios has no plans to integrate it with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, the other Sony-Marvel movies on the slate include Silver & Black, Morbius and Nightwatch.

Three of these four characters were involved in the Maximum Carnage storyline, and fans on Reddit have taken to speculating Sony is heading towards a Maximum Carnage team up movie, similar to the Avengers.

Venom follows the story of investigative journalist Eddie Brock.

Brock is in the throes of trying to revive his career, which was knocked due to a scandal.

He takes to investigating the Life Foundation, run by the inventor Carlton Drake.

Drake discovers something called a symbiote and takes to experimenting in an attempt to save the human race.

But in the course of his investigating, Broc comes into contact with the symbiote.

It bonds with him, granting him superpowers as long as they share the same body.
