James Bond: Who will be the next James Bond? Has he/she been revealed after this HUGE HINT
According to an interview with the Daily Star, the James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli allegedly hinted towards who could replace Daniel Craig.
Who will be the next James Bond?
Well-known movie director Antoine Fuqua said Broccoli told him she thought “it is time” to add some diversity to the long list of actors who played 007.
Dozens of actors have been hinted to replace Daniel Craig when he steps down from the franchise.
But of the men-of-colour listed, Idris Elba has the highest odds to take over Bond.
His odds of becoming James Bond after Craig are currently 8/1 with Betfair, which comes close to the heels of James Norton and Tom Hardy who are joint tied.
Fuqua had discussed who might be next in the running with Broccoli, and she said she’s sure the move to diversify “will happen eventually.”
“Idris could do it if he was in shape,” Fuqua said.
“You need a guy with a physically strong presence. Idris has that.”
Sam Heughan is also in the running according to betting experts, enjoying a recent surge of support thanks to his role in The Spy Who Dumped Me.
Despite the good odds for Elba, Dr Martin D Brown a Professor at Richmond The American International University in London told Express.co.uk he doubted Bond himself will change.
“There’s a variety of different aspects to Bond that has to do with his adaptability unrelated to changing Bond’s gender or race,” Brown said.
“It may well happen but the answer to where it will go next is probably not looking at the gender or race aspect.”
As of writing, Daniel Craig is the only confirmed cast member returning to Bond 25 as the eponymous spy. But this will be his last outing as Bond.
New names are constantly being added and old names resurfacing to the top of the list of who could possibly be the next actor to portray Bond.
Other actors rumoured to be reprising their roles include Ben Wishaw as Q and Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny.
A casting call for a slew of baddies has also gone out for one male and one female role in the as-yet-untitled James Bond film.
While Russians are often thought of as the typical Bond villain, there hasn’t been a Russian antagonist since 1999’s “Renard” Zokas.
Production on James Bond 25 is expected to begin in December 2018.
James Bond 25 will be out in late 2019.
