Tom Holland rose to fame as the fresh-faced Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The young British star has become known for his inability to keep any Marvel secrets from slipping out on his social media channels.

Now, Marvel has gotten on the bandwagon, turning Holland’s mistakes into marketing opportunities.

His most recent Instagram slip-turned-teaser shows his stunt double being blasted by a wave.

This has led some to believe the villain Hydro-Man to debut in the Spider-Man sequel, Far From Home.

Does this mean the Sinister Six will appear in Spider-Man 2?

Maybe, though nothing has been confirmed by Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

One version of the Sinister Six included Hydro-Man, alongside villains Scorpion, Electro, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, and Sandman.

Mysterio is rumoured to be portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal in the Spidey sequel.

If Hydro-Man is also appearing, it isn’t a far stretch of the imagination to presume the rest of the gang will also feature.

After all, leaks over recent months have comprised of a set piece in featuring Europe’s canal-famous city Venice – a perfect hiding place for the water-powered villain and his team.

Holland posted a video to his Instagram account, offering fans a chance to come to set to watch him perform his own stunts.

However, in the background, an actual stuntman is standing still when suddenly he is hit with a giant wave.

While Holland feigns surprise, his hamming it up makes it clear, this is a Marvel teaser in disguise.

Comments following the post included: “Is that Hydro-Man in action?”

“Spoiler man, spoiler man, shares all the spoilers that he can.”

And, “did you realise you just spoiled Far From Home?”

To quell the fears of fans, this is not the first leak relating to Hydro-Man.

MCU Exchange posted a report in July, claiming early storyboards for the sequel revealed Hydro-Man’s inclusion.

It read: “According to the rumour, some concept art was presented somewhere that featured Spider-Man taking on Hydro-Man as he web-swings through Venice, Italy.

“This is exciting because I can already imagine a setpiece where Hydro-Man turns the canals of Venice into a city-wide weapon.”

Whether Hydro-Man calls on his fellow fiends remains to be seen, but given Holland’s propensity for spoilers, we may find out sooner than intended.

Spider-Man Far From Home is out US cinemas on July 5, 2019.

No UK date has been confirmed.
