James Bond: Idris Elba gives FINAL answer on those replacing Daniel Craig rumours – WATCH
The 45-year-old star attended the premiere of his directorial debut Yardie last night.
Elba is currently the bookies favourite to replace Craig as James Bond, with odds of 10/11.
So it’s not surprising that he was quizzed on if he’d be taking up the License to Kill after the incumbent bowed out.
On the red carpet Good Morning Britain produced a dry martini, Bond’s signature cocktail, and asked if he preferred it shaken or stirred.
Elba replied: “Stir fried, actually. Thank you.”
But as the star began walking off, presumably to avoid further Bond-related questions, the report asked the big one.
They said: “Am I looking at the next 007?”
Elba bluntly replied: “No!”
In reality Elba’s answer should be no surprise to Bond fans since producer Barbara Broccoli isn’t looking for a new 007 anytime soon.
EON productions focus is very much on Bond 25, Craig’s final outing as the MI6 agent.
The film is due to begin shooting this December at Pinewood Studios, however news of director Danny Boyle leaving the project could see the film pushed back.
Yesterday a statement was released claiming the Oscar-winner had decided not to direct the film due to “creative differences”.
It’s unclear what these “creative differences” really mean and if Boyle’s screenwriter partner John Hodge will remain on the project.
Bond 25 is set for release in UK release on October 25, 2019.
