Avengers 4 shock: THIS new picture confirms 'Secret Invasion' horror for Phase 4?

Everything is going to change after Avengers 4.

But what if some characters are also going to change in the most shocking way?

Fans already expect many of the major heroes, both those currently alive and those dusted in The Snap, to be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the official end of Phase 3.

Now new photographs from the Captain Marvel movie seem to confirm one of the most chilling and devstating comicbook storylines is being set up. Has the Secret Invasion already started?

A series of ten official pictures in the new Enretainment Weekly include shots of the Skrulls and one of the actor Ben Mendelsohn.

The Australian Rogue One and Ready Player One star will be seen on screen in two roles.

One is the Skrull leader Talos and the other is a mysterious human figure who infiltrates SHIELD.

Marvel is explicitly foreshadowing the entire Secret Invasion of Earth.

The caption on the exclusive Entertainment Weekly image says: “On Earth, Mendelsohn’s Talos goes undercover as a human working within S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Marvel fans know that in one on the most popular recent comicbook Avengers story arcs, the Skrulls invade and take over Earth by replacing key powerful figures, including Avengers, with their own shape-shifters.

These replacements are impossible to detect until they are killed and revert back to their original form.

There is a growing feeling that Thanos will not be the primary focus of Avengers 4.

The defeat of the Mad Titan will lay a major part on the movie, but it will primarily be concerned with bringing some central character arcs to a close and setting up an entire new new series of movies for Phase 4 and beyond.

Marvel has already signalled it wants to subvert expectations and reboot in an unexpected and powerful way.

Among alternate dimension and timeline theories, the idea that nobody, fans included, can even be sure who characters really are, is an exciting prospect.
