Anne Hathaway gets 'FAT' and warns trolls not to BODY SHAME her for new role: Watch

The actress posted a video on Instagram showing her sweaty and natural in gym gear.

She explained she was putting on the pounds for a film role and warned haters to back off.

Some will applaud the star for speaking out against online trolling and body shaming. Others will think she is simply provoking such social media cruelty.

The rest of us will contemplate how the Hollywood idea of being “fat” and gaining weight looks very different from the real world.

Hathaway tagged her workout gym video with the confontational message.

She wrote: “I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well.

“To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you. Peace xx

“PS: I wanted to set this to Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls but copyright said no. Continued peace xx”

Over a million fans have viewed the video in the first day and many comments support and praise the star for her words and her beauty.

One, however, noted: “Your “fat” pictures are like most people’s “after” pictures.”

Another agreed: “Where is the fat you’re shaming yourself? If it’s not an issue in your life why address it at all?”

A witty post said: “Will someone please tell @annehathaway that I know of weight gain methods that are much less strenuous than this? I didn’t get this fat and sassy lifting weights, I’ll tell ya that much. #tacosandtequila.”

Hathaway didn’t actually specify how far along she was in her campaign to gain weight, nor the movie role.

She currently has three films in pre-production. In The Lifeboat she plays a woman charged with murder who recounts how she survived on a lifeboat when others died.

Live Fast Die Hot is base on the cult memoires of former New York party girl Jenny Mollen who struggled with adjusting to life as a mother, while sci-fi thriller O2 follows a woman who wakes up in a cryo chamber with no memory of how she got there.
